Frequently asked questions
Short answers for teachers paying personally and school teams reviewing procurement, integrations, and privacy expectations.
Do I need a credit card to start the trial?
No. The 30-day free trial requires no credit card. You can grade up to 30 essays with full Teacher Plus feature access. If you want to continue after the trial, you choose a plan then.
What happens when my trial ends?
Your essays, rubrics, and grades are preserved. Grading new essays and uploading files are paused until you subscribe. You can resume at any time.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
Does my school need to pay, or can I pay personally?
Either. The Teacher and Teacher Plus tiers are fully self-serve and can be paid personally by card. The School/District tier can be invoiced to your school's accounts payable - no personal card required.
What does the School/District tier include?
School/District includes the district admin portal for users, roles, license seats, aggregate usage, aggregate writing insights, compliance and retention workflows, district content library publishing, launch readiness tracking, implementation exports, and district-approved integrations.
Is student data safe?
Yes. Grade Harbor is designed to support FERPA-aligned school use. Student essay content and grades are education records. We do not use Student Data to train generalized AI models without explicit written authorization from the applicable school, district, or authorized educational institution. Student data is shared only as described in our Privacy Policy, FERPA Notice, and applicable school agreements.
Does the AI replace my grading judgment?
No - and this is by design. The AI prepares a draft grade for each criterion; you review, override, and approve every grade before it is recorded. No grade is ever recorded without your explicit approval.
What integrations are available?
Manual upload is always available. Google Classroom workflows are available only where connected and approved. Canvas, Schoology, Clever, ClassLink, OneRoster, and district SSO require school or district approval, setup, and applicable provider terms. Integration support does not imply provider certification, marketplace listing, or automatic production enablement for every customer.
How is this different from other AI grading tools?
Grade Harbor is focused on rubric-based writing feedback for teachers who want a simple, affordable workflow. It is not a general AI toolbox and it does not make final grading decisions for you.
Why is Grade Harbor less expensive?
We are starting with a focused teacher workflow: rubric-based essay grading, review, override, and export. We are not asking individual teachers to pay district-platform prices.
What if I need a Data Processing Agreement?
Schools and districts can request DPA review for the School/District tier. Use the inquiry form below or the /legal/dpa request page; final terms and timing depend on the district's review process.

Need a purchase order, IT review, or rollout plan?
